Picking the men and women for People‘s annual “Most Beautiful Issue” has to be a fun a job—I wonder what exactly constitutes research? But I’ve always wondered how they choose the MOST, MOST beautiful person out of all of the residents of Beautiful-land. My personal theory is that they pick whoever is willing to give them the longest interview and if that is true, Julia Roberts must sure like to blab. Today, the annual issue was released, and she has been chosen the beautifulest for the fourth time. (I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the photo above was probably envisioned as the full cover, but was bumped to a small size because of Sandra Bullock’s bombshell adoption news.) Julia graced the cover as the most beautiful back in 1991, 2000 and 2005 and she’s also made the list a whopping 12 times. Obviously, Julia is gorgeous and I do think it’s cool that the magazine broke its 20-something woman or 40-something guy rut by choosing a 42-year old lady for top honors. But still, it shows a serious lack of creativity.
Personally, I think they should have run with Sandra Bullock and killed two birds with one stone—they could’ve easily added her to the Most Beautiful People spread, and also gotten the extra mileage of dynamite news story and that adorable baby photo. Who would you have cast to open the “Beautiful People” package?
