Reiss is one of those brands who walks the tenuous line between being inspired by and ripping off designer clothes. We don’t like copying, but we do like a lot of their “inspired” pieces. And in the brand’s defense, they’ve become a lot better at doing their own thing than ripping style directly from the runways. If you’re looking for a dress either for work or play, it’s almost impossible not to find something there that’s well made and will get the job done. Whether it’s a flirty little tiered skirt, a svelte cocktail dress or a business-ready shift dress, we defy you to leave totally disappointed. Between the small details — like nice buttons instead of junky ones — and the fact that almost everything’s lined and there’s very little synthetic to be found, rarely do they eff it up. Plus, if you live near an actual store, they’ve got a tailor on site and the charge for alterations is completely reasonable. [$340, Reiss]
