We are pretty consistent fans of uber-cool fashion mag V and its gentlemanly counterpart, VMan. That said, what in God’s name were they thinking with this Shrek editorial? I guess it’s a little funny? Kind of? But it’s mostly just perplexingly behind the times and a total non sequitur. We get that the ten billionth Shrek movie is coming out in a few weeks, but that hardly seems the sort of thing that V would give a crap about. Did the Shrek folk pay them for the placement? Is this just an ill-executed attempt at fashion shock value? Is it, perhaps, an effort at deeper commentary about the relationship between man and animated beast? The best editorials are more than fashion fluffery; they leave us with questions. These, however, are not the right questions. More totally confusing images from the shoot after the jump. Why lounge with your hot boyfriend when you can have a threesome with an animated character who was, uh, “cool” four years ago?
We do this all the time. Don’t worry about it.
