Nicollette Sheridan Sues “Desperate Housewives” Creator For Being The Most Abusive Boss Ever
It’s easy for me to say this, considering I am The Best Boss In The World ®, but Marc Cherry suckkkkks. He’s the creator of “Desperate Housewives,” which makes him pretty douchey in my book because I hate that show, but allegedly, he’s an abusive douche to members of the cast and crew. Nicollette Sheridan — who played Edie on the show until the character was killed off — just filed a $20 million lawsuit against Cherry for assault and wrongful termination. Drama on Wisteria Lane! According to TMZ, the lawsuit says that on September 24, 2008, Sheridan complained to Cherry about something in the script and “Cherry took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head.” Though Cherry apparently tried to “beg forgiveness,” Sheridan still went to ABC’s top brass to complain. Cherry decided to get revenge by killing off her character. “The decision to kill off Sheridan’s character demonstrates that Cherry and ABC intended to and did retaliate against Sheridan for her complaints about Cherry,” the lawsuit says.
At the time of Edie’s demise, Sheridan told ABC News, “Somebody up there really wanted her dead. I think whoever Edie represented in Marc’s life was somebody he didn’t like. And he had a very difficult time distinguishing between fact and fiction.” Was that someone Sheridan herself? Meanwhile, Cherry said of Edie going bye-bye: “Edie’s already slept with most of the guys on the street and has caused about as many problems as she could.” Until now!
There’s even more in Sheridan’s lawsuit. She contends that Cherry acted in an “extremely abusive and aggressive manner toward the individuals who work on the show.” When Teri Hatcher complained to the network about Cherry, he allegedly said, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.” Guess we know what might happen to Hatcher’s character Susan, huh?
