Kelis Releases Booty-Shaking, Costume-Changing Video For “Acapella”

Amelia and I were really grooving to Kelis‘ “Acapella” when the singer released it on her website in January. Now, instead of imagining ourselves shaking our booties to this beat-thumping tune in the club — if we ever went to clubs — Amelia and I have an appropriate visual. Kelis abandoned the urban-inspired fashions she wore in “Bossy” for a more arty wardrobe in “Acapella.” Even though she’s the only one featured in most of the video, Kelis keeps things entertaining with her wardrobe and interesting backgrounds, courtesy of a green screen. First, she’s a hunter wearing a beaded corset. Then, Kelis becomes a female alpha wolf clad in gold full-body paint and a bikini that leaves little to the imagination. Next, she indulges in a little rope bondage that looks rather painful. But don’t let the little feet sticking out from her sides in the last shot creep you out because it’s only her newborn baby strapped to her back. However, I will admit I have no idea what this video has to do with the lyrics. [WSHH]
