Frisky Reader Revealed: We’re Dying To Know What Elle Says

Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments—heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind avatars. We decided to launch a weekly column where we learn all about a Frisky reader. After the jump, meet ElleSays, one of our most prolific commenters. The Frisky: ElleSays please state your full name, age, and location for The Friskyverse.

Lauren: Lauren, 37, southeastern Massachusetts … for obvious reasons, I won’t give all the vital statistics.

The Frisky: How did you find the site?

L: I clicked my way in from a link on another site and I’ve been here ever since!

The Frisky: What do you do all day, other than follow The Frisky, which is totally condoned?

L: What? I should be doing something else? Let’s see … I update my Facebook status, buy things I really don’t need online, and monitor the hours until the weekend starts. I also work full time in IT, which makes me a professional geek.

The Frisky: Relationship status?

L: Currently in a relationship. I think it may be the first time I’ve been in a relationship that hasn’t been a drama-filled cesspool of doom. Go me!

The Frisky: What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?

L: I’m really loving these posts getting to know other Friskyians and I have recently loved all the “Alice in Wonderland” related posts, since I’m totally addicted to Alice and have been all my life. I also liked the post about the dirtiest books we’ve ever read. It made the list of stuff I’m downloading into my Kindle a lot longer. I shared the post about vajazzling with one of my friends and now she’s obsessed with it. It’s really hard to pick just one post.

The Frisky: What are your pop culture guilty pleasures?

L: I sing Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” really loudly in the car. I mean you don’t want to hear me sing anything, but MILEY CYRUS? I’m 37 for God’s sake. I’m also a huge fan of “True Blood,” and wish it would hurry up and come back on. It’s practically the only TV show I can REMEMBER to watch, which is probably why I don’t watch anything else with any sort of regularity. That makes me sound like I need to eat fiber to watch TV.

The Frisky: Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.

L: Almost anything regarding dating up until my current relationship qualifies as an embarrassing dating story. But let’s see … I had read something about how scent effects memory and all that good stuff so I decided that I would find a scent that was nice, but not unusual so that when my boyfriend (at the time) smelled it, he would think of me without even realize he was doing it. BRILLIANT PLAN! So one night we were watching a scary movie and he says, “Mmm vanilla. You smell like vanilla.” Having had quite a bit to drink, I decided it was the ideal time to reveal what I’d been up to. He smiled at me and said, “You’re right! And vanilla is the scent of the stuff I spray in the bathroom after I take a s*%#!” He thought it was hilarious. Actually, it was hilarious. Needless to say, I never wore vanilla again.

The Frisky: Who is your celebrity doppelganger?

L: Ooooh, we just played this game on Facebook. I’ve been told I resemble Marcia Cross. Do you see it? I don’t.

The Frisky: What type of skivvies do you have on right now?

L: Green bikinis that say “Believe In This” across the butt in white glitter. No, I’m not lying. Yes, I’m someone’s mother. I can’t believe it either.

The Frisky: Can you share the last text message you sent?

L: “That Greek yogurt you like is on sale, do you want me to get you some?”

The Frisky: What is your secret talent?

L: I’m very crafty. I like to make stuff. I made the flower girl dresses for my cousin’s wedding and dressed my son up in a giant papier-mâché Loch Ness monster costume for a report he had to do in class. I also made my friend an “Apple Pirate” flag.

The Frisky: Favorite book, movie, musician or band?

L: Favorite book: Alice in Wonderland. I love to read and will read just about anything. Movie: “Jaws.” Musician: That’s a tough one, there are so many that I love! Death Cab for Cutie, Mike Doughty, Ani Difranco, The Killers to name a few. Band: I love my friends’ cover band, The Freeze Pops. I think I qualify as a groupie now.

The Frisky: Who is your celebrity obsession?

L: I’m not sure if I have a celebrity obsession at the moment. I adored Vince Vaughn and then he went and got married. But seriously, my relationship is going so well that I didn’t even feel sad!

The Frisky: What’s something you hope to see more of on The Frisky?

L: I know the first post of the day goes up at 9am, so if you wanted to post earlier, I’d be okay with that. I love the posts that inspire fun and/or intelligent conversation in the comments.
