“Avatar” Takes On The Runway

We’ve talked about the “Alice In Wonderland” impact on the runway, but it looks like this year’s Oscar darling has the Disney classic beat. “Avatar,” the James Cameron flick about big blue aliens and their planet (OK, so I fell asleep during the movie), raked in over $2 billion so it was only a matter of time before the fashion industry hopped on a train to planet Pandora. Jean Paul Gaultier took an Eden-like approach to his January show, and Vogue‘s March issue will feature a 10-page spread of forest-inhabiting, tattoo-smothered models. New York designer Jen Kao has already proclaimed that her next collection will be an homage to the sci-fi film. The photo above shows some “Avatar”-esque looks from Valentino and Gautlier. What do you think — would you dress like a Navi? [New York Times]
