It seems like the Marchesa designers were drinking a bit of Karl Lagerfeld’s Kool-Aid, because at their presentation during New York Fashion Week, the fall 2010 creations were accented with a bit of body art. But there’s definitely a difference between the two brands, so let’s not call it a copyright issue just yet. Where Chanel’s faux tattoos were actually applied to the body, Marchesa’s were only affixed to tights, giving a bit of added intrigue and variation to the otherwise precious dresses full of tulle, layers, and detailing. We’re quite loving the option for a quick change — body art by stocking one minute, gone the next. This fall, accessories are not enough. You’ll need a tattoo of some sort, as well, it would seem.
