As fashion designers scramble for ways to incorporate technology into the traditional runway format, they might do well to pay attention to veteran designer Norma Kamali, who is clearly ahead of the pack. I loved her presentation last Fashion Week–the theme was “the democratization of fashion” and it involved a technology talk at Soho’s Apple store and in the spirit of the event, the models and clothes were out on the street for public display. This season, she took it a step further and invited press to her store to check out a high-tech presentation mixing her signature OMO line with her eBay and Wal-Mart collections (the latter of which we here at The Frisky are absolutely obsessed with).
