You may recognize documentary filmmaker and photographer Lauren Greenfield’s work from Girl Culture, her photographic series that exposed what it’s like to grow up female in America, or “Thin,” her documentary on young women battling eating disorders. Now, Greenfield has taken on Fashion Week as her latest subject, seemingly using Fashion Weeks around the world as a way to examine our culture’s beauty obsession. A mix of snapshots and video footage, “Fashion Week” captures the awkward moments behind the scenes and on the runway as young women parade, and sometimes fall, in front of stony-faced onlookers, revealing the strange contradiction that is our worship of all things fashion.
