While I was backstage at New York Fashion Week, I got to chat with Nonie Creme, the founding creative director of Butter London. (In case you’re not familiar, Butter London makes amazing nail polish without formaldehyde, toluene, or DBP.) Nonie shared an awesome tip for making nails painted at home look professionally manicured.Nonie said to slap on polish the night before you want your nails to look good. Don’t worry about getting the color on your cuticles; just get it on there. Then, let it dry overnight so it completely hardens. When you’re taking your morning shower the next day, use an old toothbrush dipped in olive oil to scrub the excess polish off your skin. Finally, push back your cuticles to get that perfect edge around the bed of your nails. Your digits will look polished without dropping $15 at a salon, meaning you’ll have plenty of extra dough to spend on new colors of nail polish.
