Who needs to spend $795 on this pair of Alexander McQueen (RIP!) lace-ups when you can easily DIY ‘em for a teeny amount of money (not to mention a decent amount of fun!)? So, here’s how to do it: Dig up your old pair of bucks or lace-ups from back in the day (or for those who didn’t go through a massive tomboy phase, like myself, buy a cheapie pair here or here!)—any color will do, extra points for the ones with the red soles! When scouring for the perfect shoe, keep in mind that suede, in this case, is a very good thing (the paint will really stick to it!). Then get yourself some paints: I like fabric paints the best, like these. Pick four colors you’re into; reserve one to use as an accent color (meaning you won’t use too much of it). Check out the way the dark blue was used (sparingly), above. Either outside or in a space you don’t care about, get splattering! [Trend Hunter]
