Mercedes Benz Fashion Week kicked off this morning with the BCBG Max Azria show, and personally, I kind of have a soft spot for their presentations because they make highly wearable clothes you can actually (or hope to someday) afford. The show notes for BCBG promised a “techno-age urban journey,” which frightened the bejeezus out of me, but it was really just a fancy way of saying versatile fabrics in neutral colors made for layering. (Sigh of relief.) The girls wore long-sleeve knit shirts and cream leggings under swishy, asymmetrical and color-blocked dresses cinched at the waists with belts. It being winter now, it’s a fun styling trick for us girls who like to wear pretty frocks in the cold weather and not freeze. Throw some geometry and sequins in the mix, like designers Max and Lubov Azria did, and you’re ready to party. (We’re sure front row celebs Michelle Williams and Misshapes DJ Leigh Lezark agree.) Check out a few more looks after the jump.
