A year ago I stupidly fell for someone who had no interest in me whatsoever. In an attempt to move on as decisively as possible, I joined OkCupid, an online dating site. From the moment I created a profile, it was kind of a s**t show. Sexual predators and the illiterati really seemed to have my number. Friends often asked why I even bothered to put up with a site that yields such poor results. “It’s my only option,” I would answer. Maybe I’m strangely optimistic? And, to be honest, ultimately everything I do in my life is a means to generate fodder for my blog. So I soldiered on with my attempts at finding romance on OkCupid, frequently blogging about outrageous missives and stories of failure.
