The “Jersey Shore” Kids Go Upper East Side, And Other Guid-tastic News

Trolling the internet this morning, I stumbled upon an In Touch story about Everyone’s Favorite New Show (TM), “Jersey Shore,” which looks like it’s getting picked up for a second season. And I’ll be darned if the magazine didn’t have pretty much exactly the same idea that Life & Style did two weeks ago—to make over Snooki, the Situation, Pauly D, and crew in markedly un-Guido gear. While Life & Style went for red carpet glam, In Touch decided to recreate the cast as Upper East Side socialites at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Meaning that Sammi got a cardigan, Ronnie a striped tie, and J-Woww a skirt suit.

But instead of finding this hilarious, which it should be, I just felt over it. Much like I felt at the end of last night’s episode, where there were more fights (one female, one male), more tanning (don’t these people realize that they’re at the beach?), and more Ronnie-Sammi crying sessions. I dunno—maybe I’m just being cynical. But are you guys still feeling the “Jersey Shore” phenomenon, or is this the beginning of the backlash? In case I’m in the minority, lots of cast news, after the jump.

  • Lest you think that Ronnie got away scot-free after beating up that dude last night (even though he was totally asking for it), he didn’t. Ronnie was arrested on Sept. 4 for aggravated assault, spent some time in jail, and paid $600 in bail. “I definitely felt out of place. It’s definitely a place I never want to go back to again. Definitely a lesson learned,” said Ronnie, sounding definitive. The charges were later dropped. [Hollywood Gossip]
  • Turns out that Sammi and Ronnie were not just a summer fling—they are still a happy (?) couple. “I’m very happy and content with my life right now. Things are just amazing … He’s brought me flowers to my house before, he takes me out to really, really nice restaurants, buys me dinner all the time. He’s just a great guy.” said Sammi. “I care about her deeply and I see it going for a long time,” Ronnie says. “I don’t really want to jinx anything [but] I love being with her. I have a best friend that’s my girlfriend, which is really hard to find. Her legs definitely caught my eye and then it just went from there.” [TV Watch]
  • Speaking of castmate relationships, J-Woww made up with her boyfriend Tommy, who dumped her after finding out she saw Pauly D’s peen. He even moved in shortly after the show wrapped. “It’s great,” she says. “He became my best friend, so we do everything together. The house is messier, but in every other aspect, he makes everything easier.” [TV Watch]
