Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments—heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind avatars. We decided to launch a weekly column where we learn all about a Frisky reader. After the jump, meet Humble Bee, one of our most prolific commenters. The Frisky: Humble Bee, please state your name and location for The Friskyverse.
Susan: I’m Susan Ramirez aka Suzie. I’m 21. And I live in Los Angeles.
The Frisky: How did you find the site?
S: Through CNN.
The Frisky: What do you do all day, other than read and comment on Frisky posts, which is totally condoned?
S: I’m a US Customs Broker and Import Specialist. It sounds fancy, but I’m wearing lounge pants right now and I work seven days a week.
The Frisky: Relationship status?
S: I’m single. I don’t even have time for a boyfriend. After work, I go to college, after college, I go home and try to study and help my younger sisters with their homework. Also, I help my dad manage his finances—I think the bills wouldn’t get paid if I didn’t tell him what day they’re due—and then I mop the floors. OK. I’m kidding about the last part, but it does feel like a lot sometimes. It would be nice to have a guy friend, if you know what I mean.
The Frisky: What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?
S: There are so many. I’m a Frisky freak! I just love all the dating posts, the liveblogging, and Mind of Man. My co-worker’s seven-year-old daughter came in once and was like, “You’re always on The Frisky.
The Frisky: What are your guilty pleasures?
S: Drinking on weekdays, Hot Cheetos with nacho cheese (sounds gross, but it’s sooo good), and Nintendo Wii. I also like the show “16 and Pregnant.” That show reminds me that I never want to have kids. I cut my sister’s umbilical cord and am forever scarred by the thought of childbirth and dilating to ten centimeters. I’m just not mentally ready for kids.
The Frisky: Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.
S: Oh gosh, I get embarrassed a lot! I attract parents for some reason! Guys never come up to me—it’s always moms and dads who ask me if I have a boyfriend because they would love to hook me up with their single son. I literally have tons of numbers of guys that their moms gave me. There was one mom in particular that really wanted me to date her son. She said to me, “You know, because I’m a ‘cool’ mom, I think you should go out with him.” She was really sweet, but I hide when I see her now because I still haven’t called her son. Too embarrassing.
The Frisky: If an actor or actress could play you in a movie, who would it be?
S: Tina Fey. I’m always making jokes and we have similar personalities.
The Frisky: What type of skivvies do you have on right now?
S: Some really comfortable Calvin Klein undies. I got a pack at Costco with four different colors.
The Frisky: Can you share the last text message you received?
S: Since I don’t have a social life anymore, the last one I got was probably from my boss telling me to go in at 6am.
The Frisky: What is your secret talent?
S: I’m a smooth talker. I know it sounds silly, but I just get really lucky everywhere I go. I can probably talk my way into anything. My family ALWAYS sends me to ask for everything, my boss always sends me because I can get the job done even if it seems impossible. At school, with friends, or wherever I am, I can get your fee waived, your money back, half off, that document signed, that door opened, you name it. I blame it on being the eldest of eight kids. I’ve always had to be on my toes.
The Frisky: Who is your celebrity crush?
S: My favorite stoner, James Franco, of course.
The Frisky: What’s something you hope to see more of on The Frisky?
S: More posts about independent women, about managing money, about buying real things like homes, property, or stock. Also more travel posts. Maybe a wine section would be cool. Since The Frisky staff seems to frequent bars, give us some insight! I already love The Frisky, so I’m sure whatever is next, I’m gonna be all over it.
