While newspapers and tabloids continue to eulogize Casey Johnson as the “fiancée of Tila Tequila,” one person is calling BS—Jasmine Lennard, a close friend of Casey’s and a one-time contest on the reality show “Make Me A Supermodel.” On her Twitter page, Jasmine wrote to Tila, “You NEVER even knew [Casey]. You have known her a total of one month and you took advantage of someone in her weakest moment. You enabled her death and prevented her getting the help she SO DESPERATELY needed for YOUR OWN selfish purposes … You took advantage of a sick girl and YOU killed her.” [Huffington Post]
Now, Jasmine is not completely without fault in the sordid tale of Casey’s last few months. Just a month ago, Jasmine returned home from a trip and found her apartment trashed. She called the police, who arrested Casey for grand theft. It sounded like Jasmine was just giving her friend some tough love, but she did release the embarrassing detail that Casey left a vibrator on her bed. “I tried to get her off drugs and alcohol,” Jasmine said at the time. “I tried to get her into a 12-step program. I tried to help take care of her daughter. I’ve given her money. She breaks into my Hollywood apartment, masturbates in my bed, has a shower in my bathroom, takes every thing in my apartment.”
Casey told the New York Post that Jasmine’s story wasn’t true. “Everything [Jasmine] has said is 100 percent fabrication,” she said. “It is a very serious thing she is charging me with, so I am not going to mess it up by telling my side—as much as I’d love to. But the truth is far different that what Jasmine Lennard has said.”
Whatever the truth on that incident was, we’re glad that Lennard is challenging Tila Tequila’s claim to be a grieving widow. While Tila and Casey may well have been fast friends, and perhaps even really did have a romantic connection, we don’t think for a second that they were actually planning on getting married. We doubted it when it came up in early December and we doubt it now. Why? Listen to Tila’s tone in this video—she sounds like she’s joking and even seems to hint that the whole media circus was about getting back at an ex-girlfriend who used to date Casey. Not to mention assorted getting-harder-to-believe tales that have gone up on Tila’s Twitter over the year—from saying she was pregnant in June to a few weeks ago talking about being her brother’s surrogate. Then there’s the little issue of the fact that no one had heard from Casey since Dec. 29. Presumably, Tila would have noticed if her true love were off the grid for so long. This isn’t to say Tila isn’t currently in mourning—we’d be pretty horrified if we had a good friend/lover who died so suddenly. But something about this whole web of sensational stories seems way off-kilter. And we hope Tila doesn’t capitalize on it to feed her tabloid fame.
