Brittany Murphy Dead At 32 Of Cardiac Arrest

TMZ reports actress Brittany Murphy died in Los Angeles of cardiac arrest this morning. She was only 32.

According to the L.A. Fire Department, a 911 call was placed at 8 a.m. this morning from a house belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack.

Sources then told TMZ that Brittany Murphy’s mom found her in the shower and when paramedics arrived, they determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest. Although paramedics administered CPR all the way to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.Murphy first burst on the scene as Tai in “Clueless” and went on to star in movies like “Girl, Interrupted,” “Uptown Girls” with Dakota Fanning, “8 Mile” with Eminem, and “Just Married” with ex Ashton Kutcher.

According to, Murphy and Monjack had apparently had some difficulties recently: she was reportedly let go from a flick she was filming in Puerto Rico. Shortly thereafter, her husband, a writer and producer of “Factory Girl,” was hospitalized in L.A. for what was reported as an asthma attack. After she parted ways with the film, Murphy was mocked as a ditz during a “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update skit.

Whatever was going on with Murphy’s personal life, her death so young is so tragic. Our thoughts go out to her family. [TMZ]
