Frisky Reader Revealed: Bethlynnoo Is Whoo?
Hands down, the best thing about working at The Frisky is our amazing readers. We so heart all of your witty, thoughtful, and informative comments—heck, we even appreciate the mean ones. Sometimes, we can’t help but wonder about the faces behind avatars. After the jump, meet Bethlynnoo, one of our most prolific commenters. The Frisky: Please state your name, age, and location for The Friskyverse.
Bethlynnoo: Bethany Matson. I’m 27, although I often lie and say I am 25—I believe in rounding down when it comes to that question. I live in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Frisky: How did you find the site?
B: From CNN. They posted an article, I read it and have been hooked ever since!
The Frisky: What do you do all day, other than read and comment on Frisky posts, which is totally condoned?
B: I am an HIV Case Manager, so I work with people living with HIV/AIDS in 13 counties in Wisconsin. I spend a lot of time waiting for people at doctor’s appointments, food pantries, etc., so I spend that time checking out the Frisky from my phone or laptop, whichever one I have handy.
The Frisky: Relationship status?
B: Single, I’ve been told I have commitment issues.
The Frisky: What is your fave post in recent Frisky history?
B: That’s hard! I have an opinion on everything, so I could (and usually do) comment on all of them. But I really liked the one about women hitting their boyfriends. I deal with a lot of domestic violence and articles like that really make me think because several years ago my views on DV were very different. I definitely had a “blame the victims mentality,” so it makes me happy and appreciative to think about how much I have learned about DV.
The Frisky: What are your pop culture guilty pleasures?
B: I am so ashamed, but I am a big gossip freak. If I’m not on The Frisky, I’m reading Dlisted. It’s like my crack, can’t get enough of it.
The Frisky: Can you share your most embarrassing dating story? We always share ours. It’s only fair.
B: Wow, I have so many! I guess the absolute worst; the one I still have nightmares about was when I bled all over this guy’s couch. I occasionally have these really horribly heavy periods and he happened to ask me out when I was having one and, rather than break the date, I went over to his place to watch a movie and bled all over his couch! I was so embarrassed and when I stood up the look of horror and disgust on his face made me start crying. He just got me a towel and some Pine-Sol and went into the kitchen until I was done. Yeah, I never heard from him again. This is big. I never tell that story. It still makes me nauseous to think about it.
The Frisky: If an actress could play you in a movie, which actress would it be?
B: Beyonce! She’s not much of an actress, but if she played me I would be as hot as her and that’s way better than an Oscar!
The Frisky: Thongs, full coverage, boy shorts, commando? What’s your underwear style?
B: Oh, I’m a full coverage girl all the way! I get a lot of flack about my underwear because “the bigger the better” is my motto! Even my mom makes fun of the fact that I still buy my panties in a pack.
The Frisky: What is your secret talent?
B: I can hear someone’s voice once and recognize it forever. I am on the phone a lot and when people call me I know who it is before they say.
The Frisky: If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?
B: Anywhere with no snow! We got like 11 inches yesterday and today and are supposed to get more. I guess I would be on a beach in Madrid lying next to a hot, Spanish man whose favorite English word is “Bethany.”
The Frisky: What’s something you hope to see on The Frisky in 2010?
B: Lots of style stuff. I love the style articles. My sister can thank Annika for her post about American Eagle Outfitters, because I bought her four of the items on that list for her for Christmas!
The Frisky: Which other Frisky readers would you want to have lunch with?
B: Another hard question! I would have lunch with all of the Frisky readers and staff … and not just because I like to eat! Probably some of my fave readers are Spatula, C.Munro, Riley, HumbleBee, and MuchoMacho. There are many more, but those are the ones that popped into my head.
