Remote Control: What You’ll Want To Watch This Week Of November 9th 2009

Oh television, you pack so many hours of enjoyment into such a small package. This week, I’m excited to see Alan Thicke on “How I Met Your Mother,” Taylor Swift on the CMA Awards, and the final collections on “Project Runway.” And I am so ready to give “FlashForward” a shot.

The Show: “How I Met Your Mother”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 8 p.m. (EST), CBS
It’s like the writers of “How I Met Your Mother” can read our minds. Just when we are getting sick of Barney and Robin as a couple, Lily is on a mission to break them up. Also, Alan Thicke guest stars!

The Show: “43rd Annual CMA Awards”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 8 p.m. (EST), ABC
The ads call it “Country Music’s Biggest Night” and it certainly will be with performances from Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley. But all eyes will certainly be on young Taylor Swift to snag the show’s most awards. And duh, she’s performing.

The Show: “Ghost Hunter Academy”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 10 p.m. (EST), SyFy
This brand-new show is what would happen if you mashed up “Paranormal Activity” and “The Apprentice.” Ghost hunters Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango teach five newbies how to track the paranormal, taking them to the scariest haunted places in the country.

The Show: “Project Runway”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 10 p.m. (EST), Lifetime
This season of “Project Runway” has in no way, shape, or form been my favorite. But this is the week when the contestants unveil their collections for Fashion Week at Bryant Park. Here’s hoping the fact that having three months to work on the collections has upped their creativity ante.

The Show: “FlashForward”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 8 p.m. (EST), ABC
I won’t lie to you—I have yet to watch this show. But over the weekend, a fourth person told me that it’s amazing, like the first season of “Lost.” So I am officially catching up and getting on board. Bonus: the yumminess of Joseph Fiennes and Dominic Monaghan.
