Last week on MTV’s “It’s On With Alexa Chung,” Alexa accessorized a plaid dress by pulling on a pair of over-the-knee socks. On her, the socks create a cute and cozy look, but I’m not sure I’m gonna try to wear them, even though they would be a lot easier to pull off (and less of an investment) than this season’s thigh-high boots. When I was in high school, the “cool” girls would come to school wearing thigh-highs with short skirts, and I’m afraid pairing knee socks with a skirt would bring back memories of my adolescence. What do you think of knee socks and thigh-high socks? Are they a style, like penny loafers, that look quirky on certain people (namely models and celebrities), but don’t work on the rest of us?
