This week, your television has some exciting things in store for you. Mainly, the kick start of “Friday Night Lights” season four on Wednesday. Also exciting: the return of “Cake Boss,” Natalie Portman on “Top Chef,” Betty White on “30 Rock,” and the series premiere of “Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew.” Yeah, it’s gonna be a good one.
The Show: “Cake Boss”
Set Your DVR For: Tonight, 10pm, TLC
You didn’t watch the first season of ‘Cake Boss,’ did you? I don’t blame you, because the title is lame, but this reality show is actually super good—think “the Real Housewives of New Jersey” meets “Top Chef.” The show follows Buddy Valastro, one of the best cake makers/decorators in the country, and his wife and mama, who own and operate a bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey. Watch as he actually say things like “bada bing” while making a robot cake that actually walks.
The Show: “Top Chef”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 11pm, Bravo
Speaking of food shows, this week’s “Top Chef” looks like it’s gonna be awesome—the guest judge is the amazing Natalie Portman. Apparently, she’s super into food—only she has a surprise for the guests which they try to make ultra mysterious in the preview. Duh, she’s a vegetarian. Wait, isn’t this basically a repeat of the Zooey Deschanel challenge from earlier this season?
The Show: “Friday Night Lights”
Set Your DVR For: Wednesday, 9pm, DirecTV
For me, the season premiere of “Friday Night Lights” is bigger than the Super Bowl. Too bad I won’t actually get to watch it—it’s only available to those with DirecTV. If you are one of the lucky few, do not miss this, okay? Seriously, it’s enough to make me forget all about “Glee.”
The Show: “30 Rock”
Set Your DVR For: Thursday, 9:30pm, NBC
I’ve got four word argument for why you’ll want to tune in this week: Betty White guest stars. And if you happen to be home an hour earlier, make sure to check out “Community.” The Joel McHale sit com about life at a community college is not only hysterical, it also features Chevy Chase.
The Show: “Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew”
Set Your DVR For: Sunday, 10pm, VH1
Bless you, VH1. This show, where eight celebrity sex addicts live in a house for 21 days and go through intense therapy, looks like it’s going to be unbelievable. I haven’t actually heard of most the “celebrities” who’ll be on. Well, besides Kari Ann Peniche, the girl who was nakey in the hottub with Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane. But that’s really enough for me.
