Sit down. I’ve got some bad news to tell you. Hulu’s deputy chairman, Chase Carey, revealed at a conference this week that the watch-all-the-TV-you-want-for-free site won’t be gratis for much longer. As soon as next year, they’re looking into making Hulu a subscription service. “I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content,” said Carey. “I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value.” I appreciate the value, Chase!
