Rihanna has made us wait about two years since her last album (we aren’t counting the re-release of Good Girl Gone Bad), and the first single from the upcoming Rated R has just been released. “Russian Roulette” isn’t a catchy dance number like so many of the songs RiRi is known for. The slow ballad was written and produced by Ne-Yo, who also worked on “Unfaithful,” “Take A Bow,” and “Hate That I Love You,” which are all in the same vein as this new single.
I’m not gonna lie. I was hoping for a song that would motivate me to go to the gym. I guess I’ll have to wait until Nov. 23, when Rated R will hit stores, to see whether The-Dream, Justin Timberlake, Tricky Stewart, and the other writers and producers who worked on the album with Rihanna cooked up anything that gets stuck in people’s heads the way “Umbrella” and “Shut Up and Drive” do.
