My job is pretty sweet, but a few people’s occupations are absolutely drool-worthy. One career that sounds amazing is being a buyer for Anthropologie. Walking into that store makes me feel like I’m stepping into the apartment of an awesome friend who just got back from a week’s vacation in Capetown, lived in Spain for two years, and spent her childhood in Sweden. The Sundance Channel has a new show that will give me a glimpse of what it would be like to procure the various doodads that make Anthropologie one of our favorite stores. “Man Shops Globe” follows the retailer’s buyer-at-large, Keith Johnson, as he hops continents in search of cool stuff.
Watch clips of Johnson’s trips to eight different countries, from Holland to Tunisia, on SundanceChannel.com before the show’s Oct. 7 premiere (if you don’t get the Sundance Channel, the episodes will be available on iTunes the day after they air). Above, he considers a 70-year-old bedspread in Turkey. I wonder if he’s looking for an assistant.
