DIY Style: Hair At Peter Som Is Perfect For A Bad Hair Day

Jimmy Paul, head stylist for the Peter Som spring 2010 fashion show, said he was inspired by the high-fashion photography of Helmut Newton. So he designed what he called a “tight, small head” that consisted of two rolls or flat twists that culminated into a bun at the back of the models’ heads. Although the style is inspired by the ’70s, Paul said it also has an urban, modern feeling. The very coiffed and prim style highlights the eyes and cheekbones because the rolls are placed high atop the head. Speaking of the face, M.A.C. makeup artist Tom Pecheux used variations on pink as a juxtaposition to the severe hair. He used a light pink on the cheeks, mauve on the eyes, and fuchsia on the lips. The brow was left undefined. The overall look, hair and makeup, was rather ethereal yet girly at the same time. Since the hairstyle looks as if it took a half hour to complete and also accentuates the face, I think it’s perfect for days when you haven’t washed your hair or your hair refuses to behave in its regular style. Find out how to get the hairstyle seen at Peter Som–step-by-step– for that inevitable bad hair day that could be coming sooner than you’d like.
