Chris Brown Gets His Slap On The Wrist Today
Boyfriend of the Year Chris Brown is getting his slap on the wrist in a L.A. courtroom today and then appearing on “Larry King Live” (reportedly after Oprah’s camp said “No way, Jose” to his sorry ass). Brown’s schedule is so free, you see, because he isn’t doing any jail time for beating the crap out of his girlfriend. Brown was originally charged with felony assault and making criminal threats for allegedly punching Rihanna, smashing her head against a car window, trying to push her out of his car, and saying “I’m going to beat the s**t out of you when we get home” and “I’m going to kill you.”
But Brown reached a plea deal in order to avoid jail time. Instead, he’ll serve five years’ probation, take a yearlong domestic violence prevention class, and stay 50 yards away from Rihanna for the next five years.
Tonight’s “Larry King Live” appearance won’t be the first time Brown has addressed his fans, though. Last month, he posted a PR bonanza of a YouTube video where he apologized for assaulting Rihanna and told fans he hopes one day to be worthy of the term “role model.” We’ll see if what he says tonight sets him on that path.
