There’s really no sense in trying to goad you into going to the movie theater this week, because you already know what’s there. In fact, you’ve been waiting in anticipation for months, crossing the days off calendars. It’s epic. Not only is “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” out now (approximately eight months late), but “500 Days of Summer,” which seemingly took 500 days to arrive in theaters, is out, too. If you’re not already waiting in line, you’re too late. Get ‘er done.
The Movie: “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”
The Trailer: This installment of Harry Potter involved some heavy Dumbledore action, much of which involved him and Harry Potter peering into Voldemort’s memories to figure out what is in store for dear Harry. The crew starts coupling up and Ron (Rupert Grint) comes out as the pimp. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) finds his own ginger love and Hermione (Emma Watson) spends a good amount of time being emo.
The Hitch: This flick wasn’t nearly as battle heavy as the previous movies, but it was more intelligent, there were better jokes, and much more snogging. The whole cast is seemingly seething with hormones and the seeds are planted for a great final movie(s)!
The Movie: “(500) Days of Summer”
The Trailer: Boy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) meets girl (Zooey Deschanel), boy falls in love with girl, and girl…doesn’t believe in love. The movie spans the five hundred days of their relationship, bouncing back and forth in time, allowing vivid random glimpses. Reviews have praised Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel’s “lived-in” performances. And the soundtrack boasts an awesome soundtrack spanning from The Smiths to Hall & Oates.
The Hitch: OMG. So excited. The two most adorable indie actors together at last and playing out our love fantasy relationship where the perfect boy falls in love with us and we go on awesome adventures and they never break our heart.
