When Madonna arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala wearing a pair of wonky bunny ears and thigh-high stripper boots, we had to laugh. But when the look showed up in her latest Louis Vuitton ad campaign, they didn’t look so horrible. In fact, they looked kind of classy, yet playful. Then yesterday, the new H&M ad campaign for fall shot by Terry Richardson hit the web. The floppy bow sitting atop model Sasha Pivovarova’s head looks a bit like a pair of ears too, no?
And today, we caught a glimpse of a story photographed by Patrick Demarchelier in August’s Vogue Germany featuring a pair of cat ears fit for a dominatrix.
Are feather headbands and barrettes a thing of the past, being replaced by animal ears? (Which in some ways, reminds us of the creepy yet intriguing new taxidermy craze.) Or do these hair accessories only look good in ads and magazines but not in real life?
