Okay, I’m starting to feel like the “Kennedy Curse” might actually be real. I think we should just leave the living Kennedys alone and let the deceased ones rest in peace. We all have heard ad nauseum about all of John F. Kennedy’s alleged affairs—mostly notoriously with Marilyn Monroe—but a new book by C. David Heymann, Bobby and Jackie: A Love Story, is making some outrageous claims that Jackie Kennedy was knocking boots with Robert F. Kennedy after JFK’s death. He claims that the pair was brought together after JFK’s assassination and their romance grew more intense from there. Heymann spent two years digging this dirt up from FBI and Secret Service docs. Famous Kennedy friends such as Pierre Salinger, Arthur Schlesinger, Jack Newfield, Gore Vidal, Truman Capote, and Morton Downey Jr. dished tidbits for the book as well. Hmmm…friends or traitors? Some sensationalist storylines include allegations that it was Jackie (not Ethel) who pulled the plug when RFK was gunned down and that there was a rivalry between RFK and Jackie’s new boyfriend (and later husband) Aristotle Onassis, as well as that there were raunchy beach make-out sessions between the pair. Sounds like it would be a great movie, but I don’t know that I’m buying it as non-fiction. [New York Post]
What do you think? Does it even matter at this point?
