What’s In Your Bag?

Some say the eyes are the window to the soul, but when it comes to women, I’d argue that it’s what’s in her purse that offers the real clues as to who she really is. Every so often, we’d like to delve into the depths of one woman’s bag and look at what she can’t leave the house without. To get the ball rolling, today: the innermost secrets and pockets of my own handbag. I’ll show you mine if you show me yours: Send us a pic of your bag and all its contents and tell us why you love these products. Spy in my bag after the jump, if you dare…

  • The Bag: My bag of the summer is this tried-and-true green Isabella Fiore tote bag. I bought it five years ago but have yet to find another bag as stylish and convenient. It’s large enough to easily squash in my laptop and has this nice zippered middle compartment where I put my wallet. The plaid lining inside? To die for.
  • Comb: About a year ago I succumbed to the bang craze and in a somewhat vain attempt to control my rebellious fringe, I always carry around a small comb for quick fixes. Even if you don’t have bangs, combs are useful for touch ups after a sweaty commute or stiff breeze. [$2.99, Swissco Wet Comb, DrugStore.com]
  • Blackberry Curve: I can’t stand to be more than three feet away from my crackberry. I don’t know how I managed to survive without the ability to constantly check my email and Facebook stalk. The fact that I never receive any important emails is besides the point.
  • Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream: A little bit of this luxurious cream goes a long way. The lemony scent is a bit strong for some, but I adore it. {$18, Bliss, DrugStore.com]
  • Altoids: I’m a caffeine addict and coffee breath is a constant foe which I somewhat successfully battle with those curiously strong mints.
  • Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Watermelon: The shade is incredibly flattering, but the real reason I love this lip tint is the cool tingly feeling it gives my pout. [$4.99, Burt’s Bees, DrugStore.com]
  • Oversize Versace Sunglasses: I justify this somewhat extravagant and glamorous accessory by claiming that these shades are so expensive only because they have super duper protection for eyes against harmful sun rays.
  • Tampons: You just never know when Aunt Flo is going to come to town early so it’s best to always be prepared.
  • Laura Mercier Translucent Powder: My skin tends to get red and shiny as the day progresses, so this pocket-sized powder is perfect for when I want to leave the office looking like less of a hot mess. [$30, Laura Mercier]
  • Oil Blotting Papers: If I’m too lazy to go to the bathroom and apply the Laura Mercier powder I just surreptitiously swipe my brow with the oil- and shine-removing papers. [$10, Boscia, DrugStore.com]
  • Cotton Balls: WTF? Why do I have cotton balls in my bag? I have zero recollection as to how the came to reside in the darkest corners of my bag, and yet here they are.
  • Inspiron Laptop: I don’t know if this is the best on the market, but it’s pink and although some women hate that I don’t. [$450, Dell]
  • Furla Wallet: Furla wallets are the only ones large enough to hold all of my random bits of papers I never end up looking at. The faux croc gives it a glamorous feel sans the sky high price. $135, Furla, [BlueFly.com]
