Looking at this work of “art” by Janine Rewell is painful. Using the body as a canvas, Rewell created “Tan the Man,” by strategically placing customized vinyl stickers on the poor dude, and banishing him to the solarium until he was burned to a crisp. An interesting reminder that skin is a photosensitive material, but also a reminder that skin is a sensitive material. Yet, I don’t think Rewell has a political agenda here, and was interested more in the graphic concept. [Janinerewell.com]
