Ridiculous Ego-Tastic Celeb Weddings

On “The Hills” tonight, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt will tie the knot with the big, princess wedding Heidi always dreamed of. For the festivities, they asked their entire Pasadena ‘hood to bow down. The two lovebirds petitioned their neighbors to allow them to shut down sidewalks and streets so they could turn the event into “an untitled reality TV project.” Insanely, the neighbors agreed. Could a wedding be any more ridic’? Well, unfortunately for mankind, yes.

Over-The-Top Celebrity Weddings
Fergie’s January wedding to actor Josh Duhamel allegedly cost $1.5 million. The couple made it official in Malibu amidst trees adorned with crystal chandeliers. After, they partied down in a pink tent decked out to look like a disco. Fergie wore Dolce and Gabbana but don’t expect to see many pics of her floating around. Guests were asked to leave their cameras at home. [E!Online]
Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar had a British AND Indian wedding. In March ’07 the two had a lavish ceremony at a British medieval castle in front of 300 people. The couple then flew to India for a second wedding at a palace in Jodhpur. In India, the two replaced Britastic Bentleys for white horses and reverends for Hindu Priests chanting in Sanskrit. Best of all, the walkways were lined with millions of red chili peppers. Weird, we hope none of the horses ate any. [People]
Melissa Rivers and John Endicott got married in a “winter wonderland” at the Plaza Hotel, along with 350 attendees and about 30,000 white flowers. Melissa donned a massive Vera Wang dress covered in satin, velvet, gold embroidery and Swarovski crystals. She also carried a muff, just to drive home the winter theme. Nothin’ like a creepy ice queen vibe to melt your loved one’s heart, right? [NYTimes]
Apparently this winter theme is popular. When Celine Dion married her manager, Rene Angelil, at the Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal in 1994, there were artificial snowflakes falling from the ceiling on the 530 guests. Dion had a 20-foot train on her dress. With that many people at the wedding a gaudy dress was probably necessary so Dion’s husband could actually find her in the crowd. [LoveTripper]
Beyonce and Jay-Z asked everyone attending their wedding to wear white. The ceremony was at Jay-Z’s huge Tribeca apartment. The two claimed the ceremony was intimate and tried to keep it on the DL but there was nothing modest about the floral arrangement. The couple had 100,000 orchids flown in from Thailand. Worst of all, they only gave the florist one week’s notice. Beyonce may be crazy in love, but she’s also a crazy bad planner. [AHN]
Gwen Stefani arrived an hour late to her wedding with Gavin Rossdale in September 2002, but she showed up in a blue Rolls Royce. Talk about fashionably late! After the ceremony the guests rode in double-decker buses and chowed down on a six-course Italian dinner. But the sweetest thing about this wedding was the Hungarian Sheepdog who donned a string of red roses and kicked it with guests. [InStyle] — I wonder if the dog got Italian food, too.
