Shanghai Woman Nearly Mows Down Men For A New Car
I remember how badly I wanted, no needed, an Easy-Bake Oven when I was little. I begged my dad, pleaded with my mom, wept often, and eventually started cooking things in plastic cups on top of lamps in my bedroom cause I’m mad crafty. I got my sweet revenge when that burning plastic smell filled the house. But some girls will do whatever it takes to get what they want, including this woman in China who threw a hissy fit at a car dealership when her guy refused to buy her a car. The event was captured on video and posted on China’s version of YouTube. So far, almost 2 million folks have watched it, and it’s sparked a huge debate about gender. Why? Because in the vid, the woman yells at her male companion when he tells her the car “doesn’t suit” her, and again when he says, “It’s like this each time we go shopping. I’m not buying this car for you.” She proceeds to drive the car back and forth in the showroom until the man gives in and gets her the car. (And, uh, the video was titled, “What Shanghainese women are like,” even though the exchange was in Mandarin—not Shanghai. Details, details!) Many of the commenters showed admiration for the woman, saying things like, “In the end she won, that’s the moral of this tale!”
What do you think, is it okay to throw a hissy fit to get your way?
