I Wanna Dress Like: The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O

They’re back! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their highly anticipated new album, It’s Blitz! While critics are calling it their grown up record, the band’s style is still tailored to their punk rock roots. With the help of her designer, Christian Joy, charismatic front woman Karen O has traded in her traditional glitter lamé get ups, and now she’s strutting around in studded leather. But you don’t have to bust out your old BeDazzaler to get her ensemble from the “Zero” video. Here’s how to rock your look like K-O!Clothes:

  • The pleated and cut-out detail of this dress are totally bitchin’. [$298, BCBG Interlock Jersey Halter Dress, Bloomingdale’s]
  • I vote we rock these wicked blue tights all the way to summer. [$12.50, Medium Blue Nylon/Lycra Microfiber Tights, WeLoveColors.com]
  • Adding these fierce gloves to any outfit ups the bad ass factor exponentially. [$10.99, Fingerless Riding Gloves with Studs, Black Wolf Moto]
  • We think leather jackets are the “new” trench coats for spring. [$114.77, Cropped Motorcycle Leather Jacket With Studs, LeatherLollipop.com]

Beauty:

  • It’s tough to find the perfect, no-bleed red lip color. This one does the trick. [$14, MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, MAC Cosmetics]
  • To get Karen’s glam-rock lid, use a darker metallic shadow (like bronze) on your lash line, and save the shiny/iridescent stuff (like silver) for the brow bone. [$34, Kat Von D True Romance Eye Shadow Palette in Metal Orchestra, Sephora]
  • Don’t be afraid of liquid eyeliner, that’s what the cool chicks use. The trick is to wet your brush first, so it’s flexible and easier to apply. [$7.49, Revlon Color Stay Eyeliner With Soft Flex in Black, Walgreens]

Hair:

  • For the perfect bowl haircut: Get bowl. Put on head. Cut whatever sticks out. Rock on. [$14.62, Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl, Sam’s Club]
