Another “Real Housewives” Arrest And A Few More Rap Sheets

The talent of “The Real Housewives of New York” seem like the classiest and most sophisticated of the housewives bunch. I mean, LuAnn deLesseps is writing a book on etiquette and Alex McCord’s sons speak like 15 languages. Plus, the women are actually immersed in New York’s high society. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have their legal woes too. Kelly Killoren Bensimon, the newest addition to “The Real Housewives of New York” cast, gives off an air of refinery, but this former model can get down and dirty when she wants. Kelly, 40, was arrested by New York police after her boyfriend Nicholas Stefanov, who is 10 years her junior, called 911 saying she had punched him. Kelly hit Nicholas with a closed fist, leaving a laceration under his eye and causing substantial pain, according to the criminal complaint. She turned herself in to police and was later released on her own recognizance. Kelly’s lawyer is denying the charges, alleging that Nicholas is just a “jilted lover.” I’m not sure why the lawyer is denying the charges when there’s obviously legal documentation. Maybe the lawyer is trying to get the charges dropped, thereby sweeping this matter under the rug. You know the wealthy have ways of making their problems disappear.

Anyhoo, Nicholas said he’d still be sitting in jail if he’d hit her and he also revealed that they were fighting over stuff couples fight over when she sucker punched him. So the lawyer says Nicholas is jilted and Nicholas says they were fighting over normal couple stuff. Could that mean Kelly was being unfaithful and her boyfriend found out?

Whatever the case may be, Kelly isn’t the only “Real Housewives” talent to have a run-in with the law…

  • Slade Smiley of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” was arrested last month for “civil contempt.”
  • Matt Keough, estranged husband of O.C. housewife Jeana Keough and a former MLB star, was sentenced to 180 days in the Orange County Jail in January 2008 after violating his probation on previous DUI charges. He admitted in court to drinking wine at an O.C. hotel.
  • Josh Waring, the troubled son of Lauri Waring over in Orange County, was sentenced to 240 days in jail last September for possession of heroin and ecstasy and an intent to sell. But here’s the kicker — Josh was turned in by his mother who found the drugs in her condo where he was staying, called the cops, and even told them about Josh’s favorite hangout spots. It was about time Lauri showed some tough love.
  • Could an arrest be in Lisa Wu Hartwell’s future? Lisa, as you may remember, thrust herself into the conflict between Kim Zolciak, NeNe Leakes, and Sheree Whitfield on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Well, when Lisa found out Kim was still talking behind her back, she left her a threatening voicemail: “I am not the one — you need to call me. I might just be coming to your house.”
