Sex On TV: Dirty Sexy Money Is Back With A Bang

Manhattan’s hottest and most scandal ridden family, “The Darlings”, came back into our lives last night with the season two premiere of “Dirty Sexy Money.” And if last night’s episode was any indication of the drama yet to come, we are surely in for a tantalizing ride.

Opening the episode was family lawyer Nick George (and last week’s Daily Hotness) on his way to his not-such-a-surprise birthday party thrown by the Darlings. The song “Under Pressure” by Queen is playing in the background to signify that Nick is feeling some sort of heat. What else is new? About 10 minutes into his party, after several rounds of awkwardness, the NYPD shows up via helicopters and ground force. The episode now goes to 48 hours earlier.Attorney General Patrick (William Baldwin) is still searching for his transsexual mistress Carmelita who has gone missing. When he returns home to his wife Ellen, who shot him in the leg last season out of anger, Ellen is clearly in a drunken fit of rage. She goes through his briefcase while he’s in the shower, finds that he is still searching for Carmelita, and proceeds to break down all of the glass shower doors with what appears to be a fire poker. With water and glass all over the floor, she ends up slipping, banging her head, and dying in one short swoop. Unsure of how to handle this mess, Patrick calls his father Tripp (Donald Sutherland) and Nick. Nick refuses to be involved in the cover up. We later discover that the chauffeur takes Ellen’s body to the country house and then burns the house down.

Karen Darling (Natalie Zea) is still sleeping with Simon Elder (Blair Underwood) to help uncover his secrets, as he is in constant competition with her father. What she doesn’t know is that Simon is using her as well. Brian (Glenn Fitzgerald), the once reverend of the bunch, is now working for Tripp and doing his dirty work. Jeremy (Seth Gabel), the youngest and one half of the twins, is depressed because he is in love with Nick’s wife, Lisa (Zoe McLellan). He stalks her, ends up making out with her, only to be caught by Nick who punches him out. Nick can’t really say much though since he has such a shady relationship with Karen. The other half of the twin duo- Juliet (Samaire Armstrong) is no longer a permanent member of the cast. Speculation is that this is due to her rehab stint, in real life, last year.

The episode ends in the same place it started, Nick’s birthday party. The cause for the NYPD? Nope, not Patrick’s missing wife, but the matriarch of the family Letitia (Jill Clayburgh) is being arrested for the murder of Nick’s dad, Dutch George. Dutch was the family’s original lawyer and Letitia’s lover of 40 years, until he died in a mysterious plane crash.

If all of this sounds like a lot to take, just start watching. You’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. And if watching the drama of a bunch of gratuitous spoiled brats doesn’t get you going, Lucy Liu has joined the cast and already had a scorching hot sex scene in the first episode.
