Fashion Week: The Spring/Summer ’09 Color Forecast

Yesterday was the official start of New York Fashion Week, when designers in the U.S. send their collections down the runway for Spring/Summer 2009. And every year Pantone, a company that makes color-related products for graphic designers, publishers, and other design-y people, forecasts each season’s color trends by talking to fashion designers about their collections. Here are some of the colors you can expect to see on the runway during this fashion week.

  • Fuchsia Red at Peter Som, Rebecca Taylor, Reem Acra, and Erin Fetherston
  • Salmon Rose at Miss Sixty and Baby Phat
  • Palace Blue at Cynthia Steffe, Abaeté, Lela Rose, and Twinkle by Wenlan
  • Lucite Green at Nanette Lepore
  • Super Lemon at Carmen Marc Valvo and Christian Francis Roth
  • Dark Citron at David Rodriguez
  • Lavender at Douglas Hannant
  • Vibrant Green at Tracy Reese
  • Slate Gray at Yigal Azrouël
  • Rose Dust at Ports 1961, Charlotte Ronson, and Rachel Roy
