So this little tween pop act performed on The Today Show yesterday that I’d never heard of, so I looked ‘em up. The Clique Girlz are from Atlantic City, NJ and are comprised of sisters Paris and Destinee — is dad a craps dealer and mom a stripper? — along with their fried Ariel. According to Wikipedia, Paris is the princess, Destinee is the rocker, and Ariel is the sweetheart. Does anyone else find it disturbing that girls so young — 12, 13, and 14, in this case — are being molded into “types”? [New York City, 6/17/08]
