The Daily Squeeze: Sex In Movies

  • If you’re planning on staying home this weekend to lounge around in your pajamas and watch a DVD, track down a copy of Power and Passion: The Technology of Orgasm, a doc about sex toys and their history. (The electromechanical vibrator was invented in 1883, the same year as the toaster!) [Variety via Jezebel]
  • Why is it that the sex in mainstream American movies often features an amorous couple knocking over of furniture (something that doesn’t seem all that common in our everyday lives)? This writer thinks its because we’re uncomfortable with sex. [SFGate]
  • Another movie that delves into the sexual side of life, 1972’s Deep Throat, is set to air on BNN, the PBS of the Netherlands, and some people aren’t happy about it. (If you’re not familiar, the movie centers on a woman whose clitoris is located in the back of her throat.) But BNN, which is trying to gain younger viewers, says the movie will be contextualized by showing Inside Deep Throat, a documentary about the making of Deep Throat. Okay then! NOTE: Neither of these movies has anything to do Nixon’s Deep Throat. [The Wow Report]
